  • Objectives
Possible awards include: -Postgraduate Certificate in Protecting Vulnerable Children -Postgraduate Diploma in Protecting Vulnerable Children (for social workers this leads also to recognition as having achieved the Higher Award in specialist social work) -MSc Protecting Vulnerable Children (for social workers this leads also to recognition by the GSCC as having achieved the Advanced Award in specialist social work). This inter-professional programme provides an in-depth understanding of both practice, policy research and theoretical frameworks for those working in this specialist area. It is designed to help professionals who have a key role to play in promoting and protecting the wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people. It will be particularly attractive to qualified and experienced social workers and leads to recognition within the revised post-qualifying framework for social worker education at the higher and advanced award level (subject to GSCC accreditation). You will develop a critical understanding of both the needs of children and young people including 'additional' and 'complex' needs and approaches to inter-disciplinary and inter-agency practice to protect vulnerable children and help young people exercise leadership. You also develop leadership and changemanagement skills as well as learning to support, mentor and assess other practitioners.
