Objectives
Classics embraces the study of all aspects of the cultures of Greece and Rome (their languages, literature, thought, religion, art, archaeology and history) and their influence on later ages. King's Classics Department is acknowledged as one of the very best in the country, and the variety and flexibility of our teaching reflects the richness of the subject.

Course description
BA Classical Archaeology
This programme is for students who wish to focus on the art and archaeology of classical Greece and Rome; the core programme (which in year one is partially taught in the Museum of London's Archaeological Archive and Research Centre) introduces students to the full scope of the contemporary discipline of archaeology, from fieldwork to museology. Extensive use is also made of the collections of the British Museum. Prior acquaintance with Greek or Latin is welcomed, but not assumed. We encourage the learning of Greek and Latin as fundamental to the study of the ancient world: we teach both from beginners' level up and require all our students to pass at least one language module.
