Comments about BA Marketing and Advertising with Media and Cultural Studies - At the institution - London - Greater London

  • Objectives
In response to the increasing number of applicants who are interested in the idea of combining a vocationally oriented degree course with another, related, programme of study, this course enables you to integrate some of the units from our BA in Marketing and Advertising with selected units from the BA in Media and Cultural Studies. There is a clear link between these two areas of study as the role of the media is playing an increasingly important part in the activities of businesses engaged in M&A activity. This has now developed to such an extent that the results of marketing campaigns are now contributing substantially to mainstream culture.

    Programme

Year 1 consists of an introduction to the wider aspects relating to the marketing sector and also provides an introduction to Public Relations. This is supplemented by two units which form the basis of understanding the media, culture and identity.

Year 2 builds on this foundation and provides more specialist units concerning media, buyer behaviour and the management of the creative marketing process. There is also the opportunity to benefit from a period of work-based learning on placement with a business in the sector. Alternatively, you may choose to carry out an extended case study.

Year 3 units concern the development of a strategic approach to marketing activity and the global aspect of media and communications. Students also carry out a final project concerning a marketing or advertising specialism of their choice. There is also an elective that enables you to focus upon aspects of media and culture within Europe or USA. As with all of our undergraduate courses there is a Personal and Professional Development unit in each year of the course and an elective in the second year from a broad range offered college-wide.
