Comments about Extended Engineering (Electronic Engineering), BEng Hons - At the institution - Greenwich - Greater London

  • Entry requirements
    This programme is intended for students who do not meet the normal entry criteria for an engineering degree but have the interest and commitment to study engineering.
  • Academic title
    Extended Engineering (Electronic Engineering), BEng Hons
  • Course description
    In addition to applicants with an inappropriate subject profile for first year entry into an engineering degree, this programme is ideally suited for mature applicants with practical experience in engineering but without a formal academic profile.

    The first year provides a solid training in engineering, computing principles, science and systems modelling, as well as the necessary background and skills needed to cope with a scientific and technical programme. The subsequent three years are identical in content and structure to the appropriate BEng/BSc (Hons) programme.

    The programme has two streams, one for computer engineering-focused programmes and one for the other engineering programmes listed. Progression from the foundation year is dependent on the grades achieved, and there is some flexibility for changing programmes at the end of the foundation year.

    Foundation Year

        * Introduction to Engineering / Computing Principles
        * Engineering and Computing Applications
        * Foundation Mathematics
        * Foundation Science

    Career options

    The foundation year allows access to a wide range of engineering degree programmes that would lead to employment prospects in a variety of engineering sectors
